Chinese Minister of Cultural Affairs Visits Lumbini

Lumbini: Chen Ruifeng, Chinese Minister of National Religious and Cultural Affairs Administration, visited Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, today. The Vice President of the Lumbini Development Trust, Dr. Lharkyal Lama, welcomed the Chinese delegation.

Future Collaboration and Cultural Exchange
Minister Ruifeng expressed optimism about his visit paving the way for future collaboration between Lumbini and various Chinese sites. He emphasized the potential for holistic development of Buddha's birthplace and the exchange of ideas between China and Nepal.

Tour of Historical Sites
The Chinese delegation, including Minister Ruifeng, toured significant landmarks such as the Mayadevi Temple, Ashok Pillar, Pushkarani Pond, and Shanti Deep. They collected detailed information about these historical sites, which are central to Lumbini's heritage.

Call for Regular Flights to Boost Tourism
During the visit, Dr. Lama advocated for the initiation of regular flights from China to the Gautam Buddha International Airport. He highlighted that such connectivity would significantly promote tourism in Lumbini and facilitate the global dissemination of Buddha's teachings.

Attention to Gautam Buddha International Airport
In a related event, Thakur Kumar Shrestha, President of the Chamber of Commerce Rupandehi, and his team submitted a memorandum to Minister Ruifeng. The document emphasized the need for the operation of the Gautam Buddha International Airport, aiming to enhance the region's accessibility and tourism potential.
